Ovation followed the world premier of my Cadenza, performed as a part of the 3rd Movement of the renowned Mozart’s Piano Concerto #21 in C Major by my little 8 year old student. It was almost magical... Her face was glowing with happiness, despite being slightly nervous. Indeed, it was also a special premier performance for her own musical fairytale that she wove into the fabric of Mozart’s masterpiece.. According to it, a whimsical elephant loved to make music, the family of rabbits enjoyed dancing, and other unique characters with their magical powers corresponded to the specific musical details of Mozart’s score, as they emerged into this musical performance from the child’s imagination
Witnessing how my brand new Cadenza allowed for this child’s authentic performance to take place was a real delight for me too. And I felt as if the choir of angels sang the elaborate praises to us, while joining the enthusiastic ovation by the audience who rose off their seats to greet us & to celebrate this special student’s achievement. This moving reception made me wonder: “What if the passion, the elegance & the fun of this music performance might have inspired the angels’ choir to pass their sweet cheers ...from Mozart himself?!”
I was ready to bow, as the gratitude overflowed my thoughts: “Wow, thanks for so much praise for our humble student-teacher teamwork! But, the truth is, I could be the happiest person on the planet, if I could only get ...just a quick wink, as a sign of the approval for my Cadenza-scaffolding from the world’s most popular composer & the master-magician of Magic Flute.” But, Mozart was so much more generous. He rewarded us, along with everyone in the audience, with quite a remarkable opportunity to witness the true spectacle of his timeless spirit coming alive through his music, to appear for this special musical playdate & to have a match-up with his cute little counterpart, wearing her charming dress & playing the game of “Musical Predictions”.

So, what can help solve the problem? Why the leaders in the psychology field know about this, and yet do nothing meaningful to prioritize this cognitive fitness issue to be the top priority in the field that is responsible for it? The answer is both simple and complex:
Practitioners of the Expressive Arts therapy know that if a client was exposed to the Arts and music practices during childhood, it is a natural resource they can two into during the crisis. But if not, it becomes yet another additional obstacle to overcome and may not work just for this absurd reason of lacking access to the Arts for all. Indeed,mute level of sanity in our society depends on the accessibility of practicing the Arts and music.
It may appear unexpected, but music and the Arts practice is where the solution for this complexity is, and it may not be oversimplified any longer in our society, still based on the incivility of multitude of the blind spots that hurt much and cause tremendous losses and suffering. It is obviously a very good investment into every part of our society. But it can be obvious only to those policy makers, who are ABLE to grasp this obviousness, who possess the type of mindset that includes abstract cognition along with symphonic vision and polyphonic multitasking. And that is the kind of leadership we need, and we may not compromise on this critical requirement of intellectual leadership, since now it determines our very survival.
Only one example of such paralysis that results from the societal blind spot that is the outcome of our individual and collective lack of priority to object health hazards of environmental catastrophe that we, the carriers of the human brain had created for ourselves, is due to the fact that we’ve lost our most critical sensory capacity to feel our own pain that should inform us of the hazards on the level of self-preservation instinct, but it no longer does, due to the epidemic of SENSORY DEBILITATION.

We, as the society and as individuals had somehow forgotten that Music and the Arts had evolved as the ancestral tool for dealing with the deficiencies of our brain, struggling with evolutionary relics in its structure. Our sense of priorities is directly effected by this, or rather - it should,but NO LONGER is!
The world PRACTICES is the key for the solution here however. It means the focus not on the result, but on the process. But, even most of the professional artists did not have such luxury, so how could they be able to pass it on in the capacity of the Teaching Artiste?.. This need to retrain them, the last line of defense from the hazardous conventional self-repression is a pressing necessity in our society that may not be left without priority, since we all are affected by the implications of malfunctioning brain and the society that does not wish to get sober about its core addition to the self-destructive policies and traditions that must seize, and yet continue to rule our lives.
Due to the brain plasticity, we are often ruled by inertia, rolling on and on through the old paths of detrimental for us mental patterns. Even individual change is not simple to accomplish. So when it comes to the need to change societal pattern, without intellectually strong, capable of reflection leadership, driven by the right priorities (based on normal sensory function) such as ethics vs. political games, we are ...doomed.
We have arrived to the issue of intellectual leadership that is essential for pushing for the above critical for our survival changes, that must possess the capable brain function and most importantly, must be able to retain it without getting corrupt in the process too (since the power corrupts, as it h been proven by experiments).
Indeed, the issue appears to have many stages of complex measures... And it is easy to abandon, since the results can only yield over time and may not be used to impress the voters and to be showcased as the quick fixes for the instant political gains... There is no doubt, our absurd elections system is another kind spot, and everyone knows about it, and yet, everyone is “too busy” to deal with corruption of the core ethics in our society and to speak the truth to the power that tends to retaliate... It looks like there is no hope to overcome this paralysis either...
But, wait... luckily, there IS hope: Despite the complexity of the problem, it has been solved 300+ years ago by the timeless unsurpassed Genius J.S.Bach, who had provided the tool for re-balancing the disrupted in our brain emotional/intellectual balance, critical for optimal cognition.
